Dental schools are still, to this day, teaching the use of amalgam (silver) fillings. The American Dental Association (ADA) continues to tell the public that these fillings are safe. Recently more and more questions are being raised about the safety of mercury vapor released from amalgam fillings. This has resulted in controversy and an ongoing debate ... some dentists say they are safe and some say they are not. This issue is now evolved to the point where over 50% of practicing dentists are no longer placing amalgam fillings in their patients' teeth.

Fact: Amalgam filling materials contain 50% mercury by weight.

I have made the decision to make my office as mercury-safe as possible. To that purpose, I use state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and safe removal protocols, to protect my patients, my staff and the environment from excessive and unnecessary occupational exposure to mercury. Thus, I have made my practice both mercury-free and mercury-safe. "Mercury Free" means that no mercury containing materials are used for teeth restorations. "Mercury Safe" means that if a mercury/silver filling is removed, it is done with a prescribed and stringent protocol that limits exposure to staff and patient. Very few dentists use this removal protocol.
